On October 28, 2026, Google announced the expansion of ads in AI Mode to Australia, Canada, India, Kenya, Malaysia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines, and Singapore. Shashi Thakur, vice president and general manager of Google Search Ads and Ads on Google Experiences, also introduced a format for the United States. (Google)

Future expansion

Google plans to add Brazil, Mexico, and the United Kingdom in the fourth quarter of 2026. Their addition is a future plan, separate from the announced expansion to the other markets. (Google)

Ads in follow-up questions

In the United States, “multiturn ads” can appear in follow-up queries in AI Mode, in addition to the initial question. (Google)

According to the May 2026 Google AI Mode Report for the United States, queries are, on average, three times longer than traditional searches. The comparison describes the length of the questions. (Google)

Clicks and labeling

Google says the click-through rate (CTR), the proportion of impressions that generate clicks, is similar for sponsored and organic product elements in AI Mode. It cites internal U.S. data from August 20 to September 3, 2026. Ads carry the “Sponsored” label, and the company will continue testing formats. (Google)
