Reddit separates the For You and Following feeds

Reddit announced two feeds, “For You” and “Following,” on October 28, 2026, giving users a choice between discovering communities and checking in on ones they already follow. The rollout will be global in the weeks after the announcement. (Reddit)

Discover or catch up

“For You” combines posts from communities users have already joined with recommendations related to their interests. Reddit presents it as a way to find communities and conversations that might not appear in a view limited to existing subscriptions. (Reddit)

“Following” shows only posts from communities users have already joined. Users can switch feeds whenever they want; when they open Reddit again, they will return to the last feed they viewed. (Reddit)

Upcoming experiments

Reddit will continue experimenting with interest-based browsing and controls for adjusting the feed, such as hiding posts or indicating what users want to see less of. The company describes this as future work: user feedback will help it adjust the relevance of recommendations and make browsing easier. (Reddit)
