Facebook Adjusts Feed and Reels Recommendations

On October 13, Meta announced new controls that let people adjust the recommendations they receive on Facebook using natural language. The update focuses on Feed and Reels and includes the “Your algorithm” feature and new options for expressing interest in comments. The company explains the change in its announcement.

The company says its recommendation systems would use language models to tailor what each person sees. The “Interested” and “Not interested” options let people express preferences about comments. The announcement concerns personalizing the experience within Facebook; it does not introduce changes to tools for publishing branded content.
