Someone is impersonating you on TikTok: how to report the account

By HeyMark · Updated

Is a TikTok account using your name or photos to pretend to be you? You can report it from the app or a browser. If you use an online form, TikTok documents different routes for accounts in and outside the U.S. The steps below show how to submit a report and what TikTok says about the outcome.

Report the profile in the app

Open the profile impersonating you and follow TikTok’s documented steps:

  1. Tap Share at the top of the profile.
  2. Tap Report, then select Report account.
  3. Choose Pretending to Be Someone.
  4. Select Me if the account is impersonating you.
  5. Tap Submit.

Report from a browser

Open the fake profile on TikTok and select More options. Then choose Report → Report account → Pretending to Be Someone → Me → Submit.

This guide follows Me, for impersonation of your own personal identity; it does not extend that route to businesses or brands.

If you use TikTok’s online form

TikTok Help lists separate online-form routes for accounts in the U.S. and outside the U.S. Use the route that matches the case you are reporting. Do not choose a region based only on the language you use.

Accounts in the U.S.

Open the form TikTok links for accounts in the U.S. and select Report an Impersonation Account on TikTok. TikTok’s Help lists these fields and steps:

  1. Enter your email address and country.
  2. Select who is being impersonated and provide additional details if prompted.
  3. Upload valid identification from the types TikTok accepts.
  4. Select the confirmation checkboxes and enter your name under Electronic signature.
  5. Select Submit.

TikTok lists these fields in its Help article about the U.S. form. Submitting a report does not guarantee that it will remove the account.

Accounts outside the U.S.

Open the form TikTok links for accounts outside the U.S.. Set Topic to Report a potential violation, Category to Account violation, and Reason for reporting to Impersonation. Then select who the account is impersonating and follow the instructions shown in the form.

What submitting a report means

Selecting Submit sends a report to TikTok. Its Help article gives no response deadline and does not guarantee that it will remove the account. If the account shares nonconsensual intimate imagery or sexually explicit deepfakes, TikTok directs people to a separate web form. See its official Report an impersonation account Help article for that case.
