YouTube advanced features unavailable: what to check
By HeyMark · Updated
If an option in YouTube Studio is disabled or you see “Advanced YouTube features aren’t available for this account,” first identify which access level is missing. A phone number alone does not enable advanced access. Also check who is signed in, especially if you manage a Brand Account or use more than one account.
Check the channel’s eligibility
- Open YouTube Studio and select the affected channel.
- Go to Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility. Review the levels and the requirement Studio marks as incomplete. Labels may vary slightly with the interface.
- Confirm that you are using the right account and role. For a Brand Account, the message may appear if you are not signed in as the primary owner; supervised accounts can also have restrictions. Changing settings without confirming who manages the channel will not fix that issue.
YouTube Help on intermediate and advanced access describes this sequence: verify a phone number first, then meet the advanced level through sufficient channel history or identity verification. Studio shows which path applies to your account.
Use only the option YouTube offers
If phone verification is missing, complete the step shown in Studio. For identity, YouTube may offer an ID or video check, but that option is not available to every account. Only the primary owner can verify the channel’s identity. If that is not you, ask the owner to review eligibility from their own account; do not share passwords or submit documents through a route other than YouTube’s.
If you choose channel history, no single action guarantees approval. YouTube considers channel activity and account-related signals. Its help says active channels that consistently follow its Community Guidelines usually rebuild history within two months. Return to Feature eligibility to check your channel’s status.
If the level is already enabled
Some features have their own requirements, even when a channel has advanced access. Review the requirement for the specific feature and any policy or restriction notice in Studio and in the owner’s email. Do not repeat verification or switch accounts blindly. If the status still does not match the help information, use the support option available for your channel.
Once Studio confirms access, return to the feature you were trying to use and check whether you can complete that task.
Frequently asked questions
Is phone verification enough to enable advanced features?
No. Phone verification is one step. YouTube then requires sufficient channel history or identity verification by ID or video, depending on the options available to the account.
Why can’t I choose video or ID verification?
YouTube does not offer that option to every account. Follow only the alternatives shown on the feature eligibility screen.
How long does it take to rebuild channel history?
YouTube says active channels that consistently follow its Community Guidelines usually rebuild history within two months. Check the status in Feature eligibility.
