Pinterest announced Visual Search Ads. The news is about advertising, but it leaves every product brand with a useful task: show clearly what you sell.

What Pinterest announced

Pinterest announced Visual Search Ads on September 17. The format places ads in search results and Pin closeups. It combines what appears in an image with keyword relevance. Pinterest says it uses AI-enabled visual understanding to interpret images, products, and search intent.

A beta for eligible advertisers in Pinterest ad markets is due in the coming weeks. Pinterest did not say every brand can buy the format today. It is not a HeyMark feature either.

Why your photos matter before you buy ads

Someone can start with an image of a bag, table, or mug and compare similar objects before typing a precise query. Pinterest says more than half of its searches are commercial. That is a platform-wide figure, not a sales forecast for your brand.

Our reading: where a system interprets images, a beautiful but ambiguous photo leaves questions unanswered. Before paying for ads, look at your product page as someone who has never seen it. Can they tell what it is, how it is used, and what makes it different?

Try this with one product

Choose one product and make three photos with different jobs: the full product, the product in use, and a detail that could affect a decision. Write down the question each photo answers. Then write a title and description naming the object and its verified characteristics. Avoid tags that the image or product details cannot support.

In HeyMark, keep the three content ideas, the approved copy, and the question each piece answers together. Publish them on supported connected networks and see which details lead to questions or conversation. Pinterest publishing and ads remain in Pinterest; HeyMark helps you organize and learn from content on the networks you have connected.

Keep the useful signal

Record the specific questions each image prompts. If people keep asking about size despite strong reach, the next image may need a scale reference. If they ask about the handle, show it in use next time. That gives you a concrete editorial decision without buying a single ad.
