Revoke TikTok Spark Ads authorization: conditions and steps

By HeyMark · Updated

If you authorized a brand to use your posts in Spark Ads and now want to withdraw permission, first identify its scope: one video or the permission on your profile. TikTok documents turning authorization off for videos that are not actively used as paid ads. If yours is still in a campaign, check that use with the brand before proceeding. Its Content Suite help describes both controls and that condition.

Check what you authorized and whether it is still in use

Open the account that published the content. Ask the advertiser to confirm whether the video is being used as an ad and in which ad account. This lets you connect your post’s permission with the campaign using it, rather than assuming that the end of a collaboration disabled everything.

Permission for one video and Allow brands to use your posts have different scopes. The latter is a profile setting; review which permissions you want to keep before changing it. This is separate from removing a partner from Business Center.

Turn off authorization for the video

For a video that is no longer actively used as an ad:

  1. Open TikTok and go to the settings of that previously authorized video.
  2. Tap Ad settings.
  3. Turn off Ad authorization and tap Save.
  4. Return to the same video’s settings and check the saved state.

Changing this setting does not delete your organic post.

Review the profile permission if you also want to withdraw it

TikTok’s published route is Profile → TikTok Studio → Creator Marketplace. Inside Creator Marketplace, open Profile in the top right, then Settings. Turn off Allow brands to use your posts. Check the official sequence if your account’s labels differ; do not substitute an unrelated permission because it looks similar.

Afterward, recheck the setting and the specific video’s permission. If the video is still actively used or the control will not save the change, keep the notice and resolve it with the advertiser or TikTok support. Changing permission does not replace coordination with the person managing an active campaign.

Separate revoking permission, deleting a code, and deleting a video

TikTok says you can delete a video code only when all ads using it have been deleted in Ads Manager. A paused campaign is not a deleted campaign. The condition appears in its Spark Ads creation guide.

If you also want to delete the video from your organic account, TikTok requires you to remove its Spark Ads authorization first. Decide what you want to remove and verify that state before deleting content. If you are the advertiser and a code is rejected, use the Spark Ads code error diagnosis.

Frequently asked questions

Can I revoke permission for a video in an active ad?

The route TikTok describes applies to videos that are not actively used as paid ads. If yours is still in a campaign, coordinate with the advertiser before trying to remove permission.

Does pausing an ad let me delete its video code?

TikTok sets a separate requirement for deleting the code: all ads using it must be deleted in Ads Manager. Paused and deleted are different states.

Do I need to delete my post to revoke authorization?

The authorization control is separate from deleting the post. TikTok says you must remove Spark Ads authorization before you can delete the video from the organic account.
