Best social media MCP servers in 2026: 9 compared

You ask Claude to answer the comments on your latest Reel. With some MCP servers it can; with others it can only read your metrics or schedule a post. That difference is what sorts this list of the best social media MCP servers: 9 options, with data checked on September 25, 2026 against each tool’s public pages.

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the standard an assistant like Claude or ChatGPT uses to work with outside tools. A social media MCP server lets your assistant read your accounts and act on them. Buffer added one in May 2026, Hootsuite in June, and Metricool launched official Claude and ChatGPT connectors on September 10. Having an MCP server no longer sets anyone apart; what changes from one to the next is what it lets you do.

How we evaluated each social media MCP server

Six questions, in the order they matter to whoever runs a brand’s social accounts:

1. Does it publish? Whether it can schedule and publish, or only read.
2. Does it read and answer comments and DMs? That’s what eats the most time day to day, and where servers differ the most.
3. Does it automate and moderate? Keyword rules, hiding comments, AI in direct messages.
4. How does it connect? With OAuth you sign in and approve access. With an API key you have to generate it, store it and keep it from leaking.
5. Networks and starting price, in USD, as of September 2026.
6. Who it’s for: a social media team working from a chat, or someone building software.

We only use what each tool documents on its own site. When we couldn’t find a fact, the table says “no verified public data” instead of guessing. We also don’t add up tools as if they were points: what matters is which ones write, and what they write.

Social media management tools with MCP

For people who run a brand’s social accounts and want to do it from Claude or ChatGPT.

1. HeyMark

What it does over MCP. It reads your brands, calendar, metrics, audience demographics and inbox. It writes: creates and edits posts, uploads files, schedules, publishes, replies to comments and DMs, hides or deletes comments, creates and turns on keyword automations, and changes how AI answers your direct messages. Publishing now, replying, hiding or deleting comments and changing automations go through a preview you approve.

How it connects. OAuth 2.1, no keys. It works with Claude, Claude Code, Codex and ChatGPT, the last one with developer mode on.

Price. The MCP comes with every plan: Creator costs $12 USD a month and Company $30 with 3 brands and 5 people. There’s no free plan; the trial runs 14 days.

Where it falls short. It publishes to 5 networks (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube), with no X, Pinterest, Threads, Bluesky or Google Business Profile. It doesn’t manage ads and has no public REST API.

2. Metricool

What it does over MCP. It’s on every plan, free plan included, and since September 10, 2026 it has official connectors in Claude and ChatGPT. It documents 27 tools: 25 that read and 2 that write, which schedule posts and edit scheduled ones. It connects through OAuth.

Where it wins. A free plan (1 brand, 20 posts a month and 30 days of analytics), deep analytics and reporting, ads, and 11 networks, including Pinterest, Threads, Bluesky, Google Business Profile and X, which is a $10 USD monthly add-on per account.

Where it falls short. Replying to comments or DMs isn’t among its documented tools, and its inbox can’t hide or delete comments. Starter begins at $20 USD a month billed yearly ($25 monthly) for 5 brands, with no team members or approvals, which arrive with Advanced ($53 a month billed yearly). 3. Hootsuite

What it does over MCP. Since June 2026 it has 4 MCP servers: publishing and analytics, inbox, listening and advocacy. In its inbox (Nest), AI assists with replies, and from the Professional plan it automates replies.

Where it wins. Social listening and a suite built for large companies. It publishes to the major networks, X included.

Where it falls short. It charges per user, from $99 USD a month (Standard); Professional costs $199 and Advanced $399. There’s no free plan, and its REST API has restricted access, with approval and a paid plan.

4. Buffer

What it does over MCP. Since May 2026, its MCP and its API come with every plan, free plan included. The MCP covers posts, ideas and metrics; according to Buffer, it has no comment or DM tools.

Where it wins. Simplicity and price: there’s a free plan, and paid plans charge per channel, from about $6 USD a month per channel. It publishes to 12 networks, including X, Threads and Bluesky, and in its inbox (Community) it suggests AI replies that learn your voice, 5 a week on the free plan.

Where it falls short. If you want your assistant to answer comments or DMs, its MCP doesn’t cover that.

APIs with MCP servers for developers

For people building software: an app that publishes on behalf of its users, an agent of their own or an automation in code. They integrate through an API, and they also ship an MCP server. All five in this group, Postiz included, beat HeyMark on two counts: they have an API, which HeyMark doesn’t, and they publish to more networks (from 9 to 30+, against 5).

5. Upload-Post

A publishing API for developers, with REST, SDKs and an open-source MCP with 40 publishing tools across 22 networks. It has a free plan (2 profiles and 10 uploads) and Basic from $16 USD a month billed yearly ($24 monthly).

6. Blotato

It describes itself as agent infrastructure: one API and one MCP server to publish to 9 networks. It starts at $29 USD a month. The 7-day trial doesn’t include the API, which comes with paid plans.

7. Outstand

A unified social media API built for AI agents, with REST, 12 networks and an MCP server with 28 tools. It starts at $19 USD a month with 3,000 posts.

8. Ayrshare

A unified API for apps and platforms, with REST, SDKs and 14+ networks. Its MCP server has 27 tools that publish, read analytics and handle comments and DMs. Premium starts at $149 USD a month with 1 profile.

9. Postiz

It’s an open-source scheduler you can host yourself for free, or use in the cloud from $29 USD a month with 5 channels. It has a hosted MCP server with OAuth, a REST API with webhooks and 30+ networks. It suits a technical team that wants control over where its tool runs.

Generic catalogs: Zapier and Composio

Zapier and Composio aren’t social media tools: they’re connection catalogs, where one server links your assistant to apps of every kind and social networks are just one category. They’re useful if you already rely on them for other workflows. • X, Pinterest, Threads, Bluesky or Google Business Profile: Metricool covers all five; Buffer covers X, Threads and Bluesky. Postiz goes past 30 networks if you’d rather host it yourself.
• A free MCP server to schedule and read metrics: Buffer or Metricool, both with a free plan.
• Social listening and a suite for a large company: Hootsuite.

Check it yourself before you connect

Every MCP server hands your assistant its tool list when you connect it. Before you decide, ask for it and look at what writes:

List every tool you have available from the MCP server I just connected. Split them into the ones that only read and the ones that change something in my accounts, such as publishing, replying or deleting. Tell me which ones ask for confirmation before running and which ones run right away.
