YouTube MCP server: upload videos and Shorts from Claude

You tell Claude “upload this video as a Short titled ‘Three mistakes when sharpening a knife’, public and not made for kids, and schedule it for Friday at 6 p.m.” Your assistant builds the Short in HeyMark, schedules it and puts it on your team’s calendar next to your other networks. That’s HeyMark’s YouTube MCP server: it connects your channel to Claude, ChatGPT or any MCP client that supports OAuth, so you can upload YouTube Shorts from Claude, and long videos the same way, under your own login and permissions.

The video, the title and the script live in the same post, and your team sees the status of every piece and who did what. MCP access is free on every plan.

What your assistant can do on YouTube

Videos and Shorts

It creates, schedules and publishes videos and Shorts. For each one it sets:

• Title of the video.
• Visibility: public, private or unlisted.
• Made for kids: whether the video is directed at children.
• Altered or synthetic content: the disclosure for videos with realistic scenes that were generated or modified, for example with AI.

Script and planning

The script lives in the same post that gets uploaded later. Your assistant can write it in your brand’s voice, save it in HeyMark and leave the piece with a date and an owner for your team, without scheduling it yet. While the video is being shot and edited, it can assign the piece to the right person, leave a private note for the team and move it to another status. Comments

It reads the comments on your videos, drafts replies and posts them once you approve. It also creates keyword rules: when someone comments the word, it replies publicly. On YouTube the rules don’t send DMs; that’s for Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.

What needs your approval

Publishing right away, replying to a comment and creating or changing a rule show you a preview to approve first. Creating the draft, saving the script and scheduling run right away. Since visibility and disclosures travel with the scheduled video, ask your assistant to show you the settings before you schedule. What gets published is your call.

How to connect it

1. In HeyMark, open My accounts in your brand and connect YouTube.
2. Add the URL https://mcp.heymark.ai to your assistant: in Claude as a custom connector (guide for Claude) and in ChatGPT with developer mode (guide for ChatGPT). The Claude Code and Codex commands are in the MCP documentation.
3. Approve the access when HeyMark opens in your browser, then ask your assistant which YouTube channel it sees.

Limits

• It isn’t an official YouTube or Google MCP server. It uses the channel you connected in HeyMark, with your permissions.
• This page doesn’t promise YouTube metrics: HeyMark’s analytics overview covers Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn and Facebook. Before building a report for your channel, ask your assistant what data it can read.
• YouTube automations reply publicly; they don’t send DMs.
• Each brand connects one YouTube channel.
• In Claude or ChatGPT, you pick the video in HeyMark’s file picker, in clients that show it. In Claude Code or Codex, the agent uploads it from your computer with an upload that can resume if it gets cut off.
• Scheduling has no preview, and YouTube accepting the upload doesn’t mean the video is live: ask your assistant to check the actual status.
• It doesn’t manage paid ads, and there’s no public REST API yet.
